When faced with a situation that seems to be an "emotion sink," it's definitely to your advantage to disconnect yourself from that. Though, such a situation necessitates a lot of introspection. Is the situation a perpetual drain on your being, or is this something that can be conquer?

Whatever the case may be, such things constitute an essential part of developing oneself and cultivating adulthood: being able to intuit whether a situation is worth your continued involvement in hopes of long-term gains, or if there's truly no inherent worth to it.
