Hurts so good

Hmmm. Where to begin about how amazing this holiday weekend was...

Halloween was a day filled with me wanting to vomit from fear. Why? Because at 5pm, I was scheduled to get a tattoo on one of the most painful places you can get a tattoo: the ribs. Not only that, but I had to wait an extra hour past the scheduled time to actually begin. :/ I is a scaredy cat. But, hey, I did it! 1.5 hours under the needle. Parts of it were awful, and I was digging my fingers into the headrest for a lot of it. I had to remind myself to bite my tongue instead of my lip because I was definitely going to leave a bruise there if I didn't. Also, at some of the worst parts, I kind of went into a weird trance... it was a spiritual experience, as funny as that sounds. No bamboo "tapping" tattoo, but still... "every act of creation is an act of worship." I don't have any pictures yet, but when Sarah (Diemer) posts hers, I link them here :)

Sarah got "I know great magic" in a fancy script across her left shoulder, and it looks soooo cool. I've never been fond of word tattoos, especially in English, but this looks awesome. Way to rock your faith, Sarah! XD And then Laura got this AMAZING natural lightning bolt tattoo in the middle of her back that Ed, the artist, did almost entirely freehand. It was awesome to watch it evolve, almost as if he wasn't deopsiting the ink under her skin, but pulling the lightning out, layer by layer. It looks so sweet. By the end of it all, it was almost midnight. We had a quick greasy meal at the Olympic and decided to finish our Samhain/Halloween celebrations Saturday night.

The first write-in for NaNoWriMo was pretty good! A big turn-out, especially for a Saturday morning write-in, the morning after Halloween. I have yet to actually begin my NaNo, because The Hierophant is not yet done (more on that later). While being an ML has certainly had its large downside this year, finally getting together with the WriMos and writing has made my perseverence worth it. Writing is brain candy!

That night, I met up with Sarah and Laura in Pembroke for our Samhain celebration. Samhain is traditionally the pagan new year; it's the end of the last harvest, and the beginning of long dark nights and short, dreamlike days. Comparatively speaking. It's also a great day for divinations, communicating with the dead, and drinking hot cider. We did a drum circle and meditation, which was kick-ass. I had a vision of bliss... and I'd like to think it's coming true :) Sarah did Tarot card readings for all of us, and mine was just... wow. Hello ego, may I stroke you? Hee hee.

We of course closed the night with a good Stephenie Meyer bashing, and me resolving to not be the effect of any assholes in my life. It was a holy night.

Amidst a day of distraction with my mother (brunch, shopping, etc.), I found myself suddenly writing the prologue for The Tower, the sequel to The Hierophant. No, I have not finished the first book yet... but I had a fantastic idea for the prologue, using the "October Surprise" storm as a metaphor for Ana's experiences in the previous book (since it takes place here), and I HAD to get it down. But I did write 5,564 words of The Hierophant last night. And I WILL finish it tonight. I only have one scene and the epilogue left. And oh, is it going to be beautiful.

And then I can finally launch into Midnight Estates... and catch up for NaNoWriMo...

There's too much crap to do this week, and not enough time to just sit down and write. But I'll get it all done.

I'm so close to finishing another novel. Well, a draft, but still.

XD
