Sneaky entry...
Dec. 8th, 2010 12:03 pmHello world! I feel like the space between my entries is getting bigger and bigger. I'm just not online as much as I used to be, and technically I'm not supposed to be on now, but my boss is at lunch and I'm bored out of my mind. So I thought I'd share some randomness with you all!
Yesterday I got a package in the mail from Simon and Schuster. Don't get excited (though I'm flattered if you would have gotten excited for me!) it wasn't something an average aspiring novelist gets from a mmajor publishing house- at least, I don't think so. First, let me frame this: I have moved around a lot in the last few years but never officially changed my address. The only people who have it are agents and publishers I've queried, and friends, and maybe credit cards and stuff like that. So, I have to assume that they got my *married name* and correct address from my query letter that I sent to an imprint... but I don't recall using my married name because I plan on using Franklin for my pen name. Anyway, they sent me an ARC of a book called "Wither" by Lauren Destefano, and it's her debut novel. It's a YA novel, dystopian, seems kind of cool. Good cover art.
Anyway, why did they send this to me? Why do they think my review would hold any weight or be valid in any way? Maybe I'm thinking about this too much, or looking too hard at it, but I *feel* there is something odd about this, potentially in a good way. Thoughts?
I hope everyone is having a wonderful wednesday... ;)
