lathrielThe more I read and attend anthropology classes, the more I wonder if I can devote my life to such an ambiguous persuit. The idea is to observe and record unbiased data. But the very essence of an anthropological mind is westernized. It's a western science. How can you go into another culture and leave all that you are and know behind? I already have trouble in class dealing with the different definitions they give things. Witchcrafts is, according to the text book, the use of inherent supernatural abilities to harm others. And this is a modern definition! Get with the times, folks.
I really just wanted a major that would let me study mythology and culture and language and religion. I guess cultural anthropology is as close as I'm going to get. Le sigh. Normal college is shaping up to be everything I feared it would be. The beauty of and the whole reason I originally went to Empire State was because you could design your own degree. Too bad they had so many sloppy and ineffective teachers, or "mentors" as they called them. I liked my study groups. I learned things there, and they had a set schedule so the teacher couldn't just be like "yeah I forgot about our appointment" and syllabuses so they couldn't just pull requirements out of their asses like the independent studies. But there were so few actual study groups. I got 24 easy credits there. But I only learned about 12 credits worth.
I can start foreign language in the fall, at least. Oh but which one? I want to learn them all... :{ Can't I just major in foreign languages?? Not unless it's French or Spanish, pssh.

Remember that time I convinced my parents to buy me that Rosetta Stone program? i should really get to using that. not like I have the time to, now.
Hey remember that one time I found these amazing polaroids of me and Kristen from our living comic strip we made at work? Ahh memories. Maybe I will visit Nashville this summer.
