I've had this memory of a friend in my head since 8th grade. we were sliding down piles of snow in a parking lot at night and i remember seeing something in her eyes that I just couldn't put words too. Not joy, not bliss, not beauty. something weird.
Scott and I had a great coversation a few weeks ago about the world and the universe and how fucked up the human race is and how awesome it could be if people had, basically, not had so many god damn babies (and more but that's the root of it). We hypothesized our own creation stories (Loadacles, with his symbolic animal/pet dung beetle, in his golden chariot flew across space and dropped a golden load, thus the earth was made) and talked about the way we actually viewed the world, like the sparks we could see coming off of plants and the glow that people had, and wondered what exactly all that was.
Yesterday, I finally figured out what it was that I had seen in my friends eyes. Because after that conversation, I could see it in everyone. Some more clearly than others, and some rather muddled. but it was there.
I can see the divinity in living creatures. I know it sounds cheesy and dumb, but don't think of it as judeo-christian and don't think of it as wiccan. Think of it as simply no other word for it.
Or maybe I've finally lost my mind. Because if all people have a divine spark it makes me rather sacreligious to bitch about them all the time...
well. enough metaphysical banter-- I'm off to work!
