"I don't want to be an artist that's out to change the world with my magnum opus."
I have a line very similar to this in my Bardsworth Manifesto. And what I say about Bardsworth goes for my writing - I'm not trying to create "high literature"; I'm trying to tell stories. I want people to read my stuff and escape from a life that is dark and full of meaning, and to enjoy themselves for a little while. If the writing strikes a chord in someone and they take it to heart just a little bit more than other readers, then so be it and I'm happy about it. But if I can at least get someone to smile and tell me that they enjoyed what I created, then that's good enough for me.
