well, i don't know if I've told the El Jay community this yet, but I've been given support on hiking the Appalachian Trail, finally. Well, not so much support, but an acceptance by my mother that she doesn't understand why I want to do it, but she trusts that I have a good reason that I don't feel quite comfortable explaining to her, so she's promised to stop nagging me to do it piecemeal.
Can you imagine walking from Georgia to Maine? Cause I can just barely picture it. Can you imagine the thoughts you'd think and the ideas you'd come up with, all alone, hiking, witness to a million marvels every day, from the rising sun to reaching the peak of the mountain... personal discovery, sure, whatever, what about spiritual transformation? not to mention i'd have 5 months to day dream about my books and the rest of my life. i don't know, i don't think i can explain it clearly enough here. i think you'd have to look me in the eyes to understand. and if you don't get it then, then you're just not my friend.
AHhhhh this makes shopping for my birthday (May 17th!) gifts that much easier for you, friend! anything on survival and back packing (as long as it's not creative non-fiction like a story about someone else's hiking experience) would be nice!
ahem. anyway.
Bean woke me up at 5:15 this morning, and despite my cleverly tricking her out of my bedroom and closing the door, i was unable to fall back asleep. stupid birds were chirping too loud. (j/k?) so, here I am, clad in the armor of a cold morning warrior who fell asleep in a stiflingly warm bedroom the night before (that would be shorts and a tank top, a huge zipper hooder that may have belonged to a giant named Andre, and awesome red silk, [fake] fur-trimmed, boot-like slippers from china town). i am greasy and hungry, but too discombobulated to figure out how to wash my face and make toast without burning myself doing either.
anyway. i think i'll get dressed and go for a walk. I don't have to tork until 1 but then, i'll be there till 9:30 so there goes the day :P
