When dreams are coherent

lathrielHad a dream last night in which a girl who was Essie but looked like the way I've always imagined one of my characters from my books said "Humans will never understand, because of the simple fact that they think they need to."
Damn you, Rational Thought... and all your limitations!
Now, I admit that I am no film critic. In fact I love all the movies the critics hate, my friends hate, film students hate. I value different things when I watch a movie I guess. But this movie... made me so uncomfortable and upset... it was the only thing that ever made me want to cry without being sad. I was SO CONFUSED... but in a good way... it was like drugs and poetry had a baby in a dream.
I got it in the end. And I admit, the idea wasn't entirely profound or even original. But the rest of it was... just f*@kin' good. The way it was filmed, the acting, the feelings it evoked... I may be easily impressed, I don't know. But this movie made me hurt with good confusion. Not many movies have made me explore a new feeling like that.
And, for any one who has never done drugs, there is a sequence in this movie where Ewan McGreggor enters his apartment repeatedly and the angle changes a little each time and the dialogue overlaps with changing perspectives... that is what drugs are like.
