so, ESC is a great idea and all, but i seem to be getting all the "but here's the down side" from it. true, they work around the student's schedule, but they've taken such a lax attitude that it took me 9 months to complete my first semester. not all of this was due to "my schedule." most of it was due to the fact that my teachers were out of town half the time or just didn't respond to emails or just decided not to get back to me on my final paper until two months later.
Any way, i'm currently in my second semester. This one, I hope, since i'm finally taking classes i wanted to take in the first place, will be better. But the real problem now is that i have no discipline to do the work, for a few reasons. 1: i know i can procrastinate, and just say "we're working around my schedule." 2: it's summer vacation for all the other students, so my friends are all home and my friends' friends are all home, so everyone wants to party. 3: there are non-academic things i'd like to accomplish that are far more appealing than history books.
oh well.
I have 100 pages to read, two essays to write, and three questions to answer for Western Civilization. I have two books to read for ancient greek and roman civ. i haven't even begun thinking about intro to biblical studies yet, but i did happen to discover a discount book store way down niagara falls blvd and bought a book on kabbalah, which i've been trying to get into for a few years now but other things always intervene (maybe this is that ellusive, "unattainable idea."* i've tracked you down, muthafucka!).
anyway, i'm a busy little beaver and having to drive scott to work and pick up after work doesn't make it any better.
guess i just have to bite ye olde bullet and focus on school work instead of fun work. :{
*the "unattainable idea" was an idea i glimpsed while severely hallucinating. but hallucinations are visual, whereas every idea i had was true and real and internal. but every time i tried to speak of the unattainable idea, something else got in the way and i had to move away from the "UI".
