I got my first ever rejection letter! How EXCITING! It wasn't even a letter, though. Get this: it was a note at the bottom right corner of my query letter that read: "Thank you for your query. I regret it's not a match. Bart"

I've never even heard of doing that ;p

Now I can begin my collage though! Although, even though I'm not disturbed or deterred by this, it does seem counter productive to put effort into displaying my rejection letters. We'll see. When I start getting actual rejection letters and form letters and stuff then the real collection can begin ;D

That I've never seen or heard of, either. I usually get little paper slips (as opposed to actual letter-sized pages), one or two of which the editor in question had signed in actual ink. And McSweeney's gave me a slip with a neat picture on the back side.

I'm not sure I'd call a collage counter-productive. At the very least, its not a bad way to approach rejection. I have an ever-growing collection in my files, but I'd never actually thought of doing anything with them. I remember taking my first rejection rather badly; these days I tend to regard them with either apathy or mild depression, depending on the day, though moreso the former.

Damn, you beat me out in the "crappy rejection letter" category! The worst I got was a small rectangle of paper that was a form "letter", and it had extremely rude comments written on it.
