January 23rd is National Pie Day, as was brought to my attention by my friend Pete, who created the fantastic webcomic Bardsworth (which you should check out.) Friends, this is a day for celebration, and hedonism at its finest. Shall we not partake?
Well, whatever. I'm gonna have me some pie.
In other brief news, my writing was called "purple" and "flowery" yesterday. Granted, it was just an exercise and it was in a style I rarely adopt, but it was also something I had considered fairly well-written, as far as brief, impotent passages go. I'm not mad at the person for saying that my writing was "purple," though the term would probably fall under the forbidden catagory of critiquing terms, along with saying it was "cliche" or "show don't tell" (but I can hardly hold her responsible since she's a post-Pete memeber and never recieved the critiquing essay. I think I still have a copy of it, actually. Maybe I'll make some photocopies for Joseph to give the newer members, just for clarity's sake). I'm just a little confused. I thought I was a strict judge- of my own writing especially. Why is it that when I write crap people praise it and when I think I've done well people contradict that?
Oh the insecurities of the author. Someday, I will smite said author and replace her with one more competent- enough, at least, to complete the tasks before her.
le sigh.
Work soon. Write later. Read later. Rearrange bedroom to block the heat-losing window later. Maybe sleep, if someone isn't taking a showing right next to my bedroom and scrocking like it's his job. Eew.

I still have the critique essay on my computer if you want me to send it to you.

And remember - one or two peoples' opinions should never count. When you're published and you can get the opinions of thousands of people, then it'll count.

Please get me that essay! One of you! I would love to have it in electronic form and in paper hand outs.

For the record, I don't think your writing in that piece was purple at all. That's kind of a strong term, and I honestly think it was misused when applied last night, but not with any malice. I wouldn't take it to heart. Remember too, that particular writer's piece was pretty much lacking color. Like Pete said, get published, and then thousands of folks will tell you what to think, and then it'll matter.

thanks for the support! I was moreso irked at her choice of words than seriously put-down... I happen to recall two weeks ago when Jeff used the term and she asked what it meant... methinks she was just looking for an opportunity to use her knewfound knowledge ;)
